Very cool comic. I went and checked the site. Also very cool. We had something like this in Kalamazoo for a little while, but it disintegrated rather rapidly. Now that space is a beauty parlor. A shame really. I have considered reopening another such thing where they are starting studio space at 150 a month. Something to think about I guess. Again, great comic.
My friend Darcy is one of your biggest fans. She can’t intern for you though, she’s going to Vanuatu. More importantly, however, you don’t sell the idea of interning in your strip very well.
Love the new strip Erika! Thanks for showing how you did those impossible group scenes. Never thought about tracing photos to get a feel for placement.
Sweet, I’m looking to head out to Portland in a couple months, and would really love to get into a studio more creatively oriented (knee-deep in corporate at the moment…). What’s the internship’s application cycle lookin’ like, if I may ask?
OH MAN! We have those monkeys too! They are SO annoying! Some people have taken to making the monkey’s capes into little bikinis for them. I approve. We also have nerf gun fights.
I wish I could find a studio like that! I mean, how do you even find a place like that?? Haha. I think there are maybe 3 artists in this area that I know of, how are you surrounded by all these people? JEALOUSY
Argh! A friend of mine makes little costumes for those monkeys and sells them at ren faires. Little masks, little capes, little gimp masks… Then he throws them at me.
So, this explains it! I catch the bus right outside this office and I kept seeing a girl (leaving on a bike) with your very unique tattoo and, well, it’s you. Heh. Anyway, if you’ve seen a geeky dude with glasses (very unique description here in PDX) staring at your shoulders, that’s why. Keep up the good work!
American Science & Surplus (one of the coolest stores on the planet, btw) has flyin’ monkeys for $4.95. Gave one to my SO for Xmas. Flew at relatives’ faces for two days straight.
sciplus.com, search for “screeching monkey superhero” (no, i’m not a spammer :P)
sounds like a place i need to work at, though it’s been rough since i moved here looking to be a freelance artist for the first time. Do you have any tips on what i can do to get myself out in the real world?
All hundred odd of my department got those screaming monkeys at an annual staff etreat. I took the sound box out of mine and sewed it up again, so now it’s a stealth monkey!
I’m only fifteen, but I bookmarked that intern page. ;) I like to start looking at my options early. I wonder how many years in advance they take applications?
Ah yes, I remember the first time someone suggested “drawing bigger” to me.
Man, that place looks awesome.
And where can we get one of those screaming monkey things ?
Man that sounds like such an awesome environment to work in! I wish there was something like that around here. :(
also, I have a maniacal toy rabbit like the monkey there, that makes the scariest sound. Do you want it as ammunition?
I have one of those screaming monkeys! I fling it at my friends when they are sleeping. ^_^

I am really so jealous of your workspace.
Steve was suggesting sending some excess intern applications our way. I’d like to have an intern.
We’ll just take all you guys’ castoffs.
Sounds like an awesome place!
THOSE POOR INTERNS THO. ERIKA YOU SLAVE DRIVER D:!!!!
Dude, I LOVE that freakin’ little monkey! They’re everywhere! And if I lived there, I would totally be your intern!

But that’s good family, right? Not passive-aggressive, dysfunctional, call social services family?
a screaming monkey toy…that’s awesome!!
I just spend a few hours reading the entirety of your webcomic. Thank you for making me laugh so much! You’re making me want to keep a journal again.

I got my screaming monkey from Woot at the end of the last Woot-off.
My dog hates it with a passion of a 1000 burning suns.
Oh wow – dream come true! :D

I do think of Erika as my lil’ sister!
Booohoooo, I want to be there, too!*sob*
No, really, thanks a lot Erika for giving me a slice of good ole Periscope! I can’t wait to come back!!!
