The convo went like this:
Me: So you know J and I’re together, right?
Mom: Yep. Coming over for dinner tomorrow?
Me: …sure. O.o
It was oddly anticlimactic. I’m not sure which is worse, having your parents deny it, or having them make you aware you were the last person to figure it out.
In high school, my mom told me that “boys don’t like girls who talk so much”.
But you know what? My boyfriend of 4 years loves me because I can talk up a storm and my expansive knowledge of Futurama, Arrested Development and Venture Brothers quotes.
my mom just said, “no dear your not, just because it seems cool doesn’t make you a bisexual” I kinda wanted to say, how about having sex with both men and women, does that count.
heh… thats similar to what happened when i told my mom i was bi
we were yelling (about what i can’t recall) and i yelled OH YEAH?! WELL I’M BISEXUAL! to which she replied WELL I DON’T BELIEVE IN BISEXUALITY
as far as i know she has since forgotten such a conversation(argument) ever took place and the rest of my family has not yet heard a word of said sexuality
Reading these coming-out tales makes me laugh with joy. It’s always lovely finding stories I can relate to. I came out as bi to my parents in 92, when I was 15. At the time I was seeing an utterly *adorable* boy who my parents knew. Like many others, they figured it was just a phase. After him I was with a girl for about 3 years. Next, it was back to a boy… aaaaaaaaaaaaand mayhem ensued.
Me: ‘I told you years ago!’
Them: ‘We didn’t think you were serious!’
Unfortunately, I still get a lot of crap from others to this day: MOSTLY from homosexuals! That REALLY pisses me off. Homos get more upset at my bisexuality than hets do. Can’t tell you how often I’ve heard: “you’re just ashamed to really come out.” Yeah, cuz it’s so much more fun being abused by homos AND hets. And this isn’t from living in some backwater, I was born and raised in NYC!
It’s sort of amazing. Your mom said *exactly* what my mother said when I told her I was gay.
What an awesome answering greeting.
……..VAGINA!…*beep*
My mom said the EXACT SAME THING when I came out too! ^_^ Wow, I feel so connected, and top heavy :P

when my mom came out to my sister and i, she was disappointed. we replied that we knew and could we go get ice cream now. or something like that.
you’d think we weren’t observant or something. we were 15/13 respectively.
heh, i still remember her response: “oh. okay.”
hahaha… art about family makes things fresh
My mom asked, “Does your father know?” I was so horrified it never came up again.
lol awsome! makes so much sence.
I swear, when I came out at Houston’s Hobby Airport as I was moving to Denver, I came out and then bolted for the security queue.

My mother was exactly the same XD
“Mum, you know I’m…gay!”
“No, you’re not. Now get that sandwich out to your dad.”
O_o
Was is it with that response that a lot of parents seem to react that way?
My dad had exactly that reaction when I told him I’m asexual. I think my being gay would have been *easier* for him to accept.
My mom responded to my coming out by explaining that she doesn’t believe in bisexuality because it’s not fair.

Ah mothers.
